Scholarship Information

The intent of the Community Scholarship Program is to provide gap funding to assist students in attaining a two-year degree or industry certification at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. The scholarship will provide the full tuition cost of attendance (up to 60 credit hours) less the amount of financial aid and/or other awarded scholarships.

Kimberly D. Merritt “Achieve Your $500 February 17th, 2018
Dreams” Scholarship

One $500 award given for each of four regions of Kentucky (Northern, Central, Eastern, Western). ACT/SAT scores, unweighted GPA considered, as well as a 500 word or less response to the prompt “Name someone who impacted or inspired your college admissions process, and state why they were beneficial in your journey into higher education. Kiwanis Club of Paducah between $500-$1,500 February 20th, 2018

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, essay content and writing ability, and extracurricular and community involvement. Counselor must sign and submit transcript.

Paducah Power System Scholarship 3-$2,000 over 2 years February 23rd, 2018

Must be served by PPS for at least a year and have at least a 2.5 GPA. 2 awards go to a student enrolling at WKCTC and one goes to a student enrolling at an accredit PUBLIC college or university in Kentucky. (Private college applicants do not qualify.)

Jackson Purchase Energy Scholarship 6- $1,000 each February 27th, 2018

Students primary residence at the time of application must be served by JPEC, and the JPEC account must be in the name of the student's parent or guardian. The student must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of 18 or better. The student must submit a brief, typed narrative stating his/her reason for applying for the scholarship. All scholarship winners must attend JPEC's annual meeting. Each recipient will be recognized at that time.

Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation various scholarships,up to $4,000 February 28th, 2018

Several statewide scholarships as well as two $1,000 scholarships specifically for McCracken County
resident seniors. Must be the child of a KFB member (and remain such while the scholarship is in force),
and have a 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA or a minimum 23 ACT score. Application requires transcript,
grading scale, letters of recommendation (one from a school official and another from a non-relative),
two essays, and an estimate of first-year college expenses.





Regions Riding Forward 15-$5,000 February 28th, 2018
Scholarship Essay Contest

Minimum GPA of 2.0 to enter. Choose the African-American you want to write about. It could be
someone famous, a relative or a person you know. Just make sure they inspire and motivate you. Make
your essay 500 words or less and review the “Contest Judging Criteria” in section 5 of the Official Rules
for guidance in writing your essay. You can write your essay directly in the application or you can copy
and paste it into the appropriate area in the application form. More at applyists.net/ridingforward .

Juanita Amonett Extension $2,000 over 2 years February 28th, 2018
Homemaker Scholarship

Applicants must be an active member, or the child or grandchild of an active McCracken Co. Extension Homemaker member for at least one year and show financial need. Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA on first semester coursework to receive the 2nd semester award.

WKCTC Scholarships various amounts by noon on March 1st, 2018

Go to www.westkentucky.kctcs.edu . Click on Costs & Financial Aid. Click on Scholarships. Review the Scholarship Opportunities brochure and follow the online instructions. Note: Students MUST complete the regular WKCTC scholarship application in order to be considered for the Community Scholarship Program.

L.I.F.E. Community, Inc. Scholarship $500 March 5th, 2018

For a high school senior graduating from a school in McCracken County with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and acceptance into a 2- or 4-year college. Application should be accompanied by a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a resume, and a 500-word minimum essay on “Why I Am the Best Candidate for This Scholarship”.

Christ Temple Apostolic Church Scholarship $500 March 5th, 2018

For a high school senior graduating from a school in McCracken County with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and acceptance into a 2- or 4-year college. Application should be accompanied by a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a resume, and a 500-word minimum essay on “What Success Means to Me”.

Paducah Breakfast Club Scholarship $1,000 March 16th, 2018

For a student with a 3.0 or above GPA planning to be a full-time student in the fall semester, who has not received any other financial support and has plans to return to the Paducah area upon graduation.

Pennies for the Future Scholarship $500 each March 16th, 2018

Must be full-time students for 2018-19 school year. GPA, ACT, leadership, and service are considered. Letters of recommendation may accompany application.



Mark W. Reno Scholarship Up to $16,000 over 4 years March 16th, 2018

With no restrictions other than maintaining a 2.0 GPA, this scholarship offers renewable funding up to $4,000 per year to a graduate of a high school within McCracken County. The Community Foundation of West Kentucky administers this scholarship and requires certain documentation annually—such as class schedules, GPAs, and student ID numbers—in order to process the scholarship checks. Course of study, choice of schools, and living arrangements are not factors of this scholarship and are totally dependent upon the student.

Cullen Gream Memorial Scholarship $2,000 March 16th, 2018

Awarded to one graduating PTHS senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 who will be a full-time student for the 2018-19 school year. Must provide a copy of ACT/SAT scores, a list of leadership activities/positions, service experiences, and the SAR (Student Aid Report from FAFSA application) and must write a short overview of how this scholarship will make a difference in your life and educational journey. A personal interview may be required.

Greydon Seaton Scholarship Up to $10,000 over 4 years March 16th, 2018

This foundation plans to award up to three PTHS seniors a four-year scholarship, usually $2,000-$2,500 per year of college. Full-time status is required. Applicants must provide a copy of ACT/SAT scores, a list of leadership activities/positions, and service experiences. Letters of recommendation may accompany application. A personal interview may be required.

Charles W. Thomas Scholarship $500 per semester March 16th, 2018

From the West Kentucky Alumni Association, this is available to a senior planning to attend WKCTC who has at least a 2.7 GPA. The application requires two high school teacher recommendations, a list of extracurricular activities, awards, or significant accomplishments, and a one page typed personal essay.

Paducah Rotary Scholarship $1,000 March 19th, 2018

This award will go to two PTHS seniors this year. Applications must be turned in to the Guidance office. Applicants can not be sons or daughters of Rotarians. The application includes two short essays and requires a recent photo, resume, and 2 letters of recommendation.

Paducah Teachers Federal Credit Union 2-$1,000 March 22nd, 2018

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a PTFCU member, or have a legal guardian who is a member. Other requirements:  GPA of 2.5 or greater, verification of acceptance/enrollment in college, transcript, two letters of recommendation (one from teacher, and one from community member), completed scholarship application.

Ingevity Leader Scholarship $1,000 March 23rd, 2018

Awarded to a Western Kentucky graduating senior who is a leader in and out of the classroom and plans to pursue a degree in a STEM-related field. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and have demonstrated leadership abilities through community service, extracurricular, or other activities.

KY Fed. Of Republican Women $1,500 March 26th, 2018

For a college-bound high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican party. Complete application will include: completed application form, one-page typed essay about a Republican woman you admire or who has influenced your life and why, an official copy of your high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation.

Propeller Club Scholarship 2-$1,500 each March 26th, 2018

Must be attending an accredited university or community college within the state of Kentucky, and have an affiliation with the Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Paducah (i.e. be a family member of a club member, or a family member of a current employee of a company with members in the club—these are typically companies involved in or supporting the river/maritime industries). Applications should be accompanied by a transcript, one-page narrative stating reason for applying, and a list of any extracurricular activities, honors and/or awards.

Kentucky Manufactured Housing 7-$1,000 each March 26th, 2018
Institute Scholarship

Eligible applicants must live in modular or manufactured homes and desire to further their education. Selection is based on the essay, participation and grades in school and community, honors, recommendations, and personal goals. Winners may attend a university, college, technical, or vocational school. Recipients will be notified by the end of May.

Paducah Alumni of Kappa Alpha Psi Typically up to $2000 March 30th, 2018
Curtis Hixon/Charles Thomas Scholarship

Up to 3 awards given to applicants with a GPA of at least 2.5 and have been accepted by a four-year accredited college or university and have achieved scholastic excellence. Must complete a one-two page essay on the topic “What does achievement mean to me?”. Three letters of recommendation required: one from a pastor or community leader, one from a teacher, and one from an adult the student holds in high esteem.

MGM Charitable Foundation Up to 10 four-year scholarships April 16th, 2018
Scholarship

These are need-based scholarships for students with academic achievement. This foundation was founded by Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti in memory of his grandmother Manchikanti Gopamma, to provide scholarship funding for post-secondary education.

American Legion Auxiliary
First District Scholarship April 17th, 2018

Applicants must be close relatives of a veteran eligible for membership in the American Legion and reside in the First District of Kentucky, graduate with a 3.0 GPA, and be attending a tw-year or four-year college or vocational school. Transcript and two letters of recommendation should be included.
UEW Healthcare EEOICPA Scholarship $1,000 May 15th, 2018
The Scholarship is open nationwide to those who will be attending college fall semester of 2018. Special consideration will be give to an undergraduate who is interested in pursuing a career in Home Healthcare and knows someone that worked in the nuclear industry and was subsequently approved for benefits under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program (EEOICPA), but anyone meeting the requirements & can demonstrate an interested in pursuing a career in Healthcare will be considered. Injury Lawyers Scholarship $1,500 May 31st, 2018
