• Paducah Middle is holding softball tryouts at PTHS Softball field, Shepherd's Field across from Brooks Stadium, on Tuesday June 4th at 6pm. Girls must wear pants & bring a glove. All girls must have a current physical. A copy must be provided that day.
• 8th grade art work that was not picked up will be available on Thursday May 30th between the hours of 8 and 3. If you are not available to pick it up that day please contact Mrs. Sauer Teresa.sauer@paducah.kyschools.us to make other arrangements.
• Information about 6th, 7th, and 8th grade registration will be sent during the summer through email.
• The 2019 eighth grade promotion ceremony will be held in the Paducah Middle School gymnasium on Thursday, May 23, at 8:00 o’clock am. We ask that you enter through the gymnasium located at the back of the school; doors will open promptly at 7:15 am. Letters were sent home with 8th grade students 2 weeks ago and also mailed home. Please park in the back and enter through the gym - ticket required for each person who attends.
• Information about the summer tennis clinic at Tilghman is attached in a flyer.

• 8th grade learning checks Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
• We are accepting Lighthouse team Applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Student can apply online or on paper. Paper copies need to be turned into Mrs. Ringstaff in library...Students may apply online at this link https://bit.ly/2V79izK or may fill out an application and turn it in to the library. We encourage current 6th and 7th grade students to apply...Applications will be accepted until 2:20 pm on Monday, May 13, 2018.
• FREE sports physicals for football players thisWednesday, May 15, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Orthopedic Institute. Flyer attached.
• TALENT SHOW auditions will be during 8th mod this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday (May 15th and 16th). Please pick up a form in the office. Forms are due to Mrs. Veal NO later than Wednesday May 16th. Students chosen will be notified at the end of the school day Thursday.
The Talent Show will be MONDAY, May 20th.
• Art club will not meet tomorrow, but we will have our end of the year party after school on Thursday the 16th.
• There will be a meeting on Tuesday May 14th at 5:30 in the library for those students who are going on the trip to San Francisco...There will be a meeting on Thursday May 16th at 6pm in the library for those students who are going on the trip to Washington, DC in June.

• The district wide art show opening reception will be at City Hall (it started Thursday) from 5:30 to 8:30. The show will be up through the 14th.
• The 8th Grade Band will do a recruiting program for all district 5th Grade Students on Monday, May 20 from 8:15-9:30am. 8th Grade Band members need to wear their blue PM Music Polo shirts that day. They may wear any jeans/pants (following school dress code guidelines, of course)
• Reminder to ALL rising 7th and 8th graders interested in playing football next year: The PTHS coaching staff will be hosting a spring practice clinic Tuesday-Thursday afternoons this week on the PMS Practice field from 4:00-6:00. Players just need to bring cleats. 
• The Young Leaders in Action group at Paducah Middle School is hosting a GIVING week. We are asking parents, students, and staff to bring in items to be given to the homeless in our community. Please bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, etc.). This event will last from May 6 - May 10, 2019. Please see Ms. Donaldson or any of the following students for more information: Chandler Christ, Riley Darnell, Addie Franklin, Addison Reed

• We are accepting Lighthouse team Applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Student can apply online or on paper. • Attached is a flyer about the summer basketball camp for students in grades 2-7.
• Paducah Middle track team is still participating in the track meet at Tilghman today.
• On Friday, May 10, 2019, team Honesty will walk to Kieler Park. We will leave the school at roughly 8 a.m. We will walk to the park as a group. We will return for lunch in the cafeteria. After, we will walk back to Kieler Park for the remainder of the day. At 2, we will all walk back to school...Students are welcome to bring snacks, sack lunch, and drinks if desired. They can also bring sports equipment and Frisbees to play with the park. Students may also want to bring a towel/blanket to sit on outside and sunscreen. All students will be responsible for all belongings they bring. No equipment with wheels can be taken with us (scooter, hover board, skates, etc.)...Please let Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. O’Bryan, Ms. Mann, or Mr. Brewer know if you have any questions.

• Attention 8th Grade Parents: PTHS SBDM Parent Elections will take place in the main lobby Tuesday, May 7, from 7 am - 7 pm. Ballots can be found in the main office at Tilghman, or posted on the front door.
• Last day for students AND 8th grade promotion ceremony - Thursday, May 23rd. Please see attachment for more information.
• Reminder- PMS volleyball practice is from 3PM-5PM every Friday at the Paducah Tilghman Gym.
• There will be no academic team tryouts after school today.
• If interested in the spring break 2020 France trip, please email Ms. Johnson at Jennifer.johnson@paducah.kyschools.us
• The 8th Grade Band will do a recruiting program for all district 5th Grade Students on Monday, May 20 from 8:15-9:30am.

• Beginning April 23, the Paducah Police Department will have 3 officers who will interact with our students on Tuesdays. The intent is to build positive relationships between the officers and our students. The officers may be seen in the classrooms, walking the halls, and eating lunch with our students.
• PM Talent Show- Monday, May 20th--More info to come! Spring Choir Showcase- Monday, May 20th 5-7pm in the PM Cafeteria
• Tryouts for the Paducah Tilghman Color Guard are beginning!...This is for 8th Graders going into 9th Grade next year. Color Guard is the Flag team for the Marching Band at PTHS....The clinics are: starting today, April 18, 23, 25, 30 and May 2 from 3:30-5:30pm in PTHS Band Room....The tryouts are - May 3 starting at 3:30pm....If you are going to the clinics &/or tryouts, you must have Dance Clothes, Gym Shoes, No blue Jeans, NO JEWELRY....Any questions, ask Ms. Williams here in the PM band room.
• KPrep testing dates – May 7, 8, 9, 10, 13.
• Students: Food and/or drinks purchased by Foodservice are NOT to be taken out of the cafeteria…FUN DIPS are not to be brought to school. If they are packaged as part of your lunch, they should be for you, and only you.NO outside food or drinks are allowed, unless the items are packaged as your lunch. If you do not understand this, please speak with an administrator....Backpacks, fanny packs, purses of any size, are not allowed in the classroom setting. These items belong in your lockers; no exceptions.
• Yearbooks are on sale! Turn in your envelope order form to Miss Abbie in the main office, OR order online at https://commpe.pictavo.com/ (service fee applies)...Update: We have sold 135 yearbooks so far! There are 65 remaining! The sooner, the better! Place your order online OR bring your money in an envelope to school

• Beginning April 23, the Paducah Police Department will have 3 officers who will interact with our students on Tuesdays. The intent is to build positive relationships between the officers and our students. The officers may be seen in the classrooms, walking the halls, and eating lunch with our students. 
• Attached is a flyer regarding the Red Cross Blood Drive that is taking place at Paducah Middle. Thank you for your support.

• Attached is a flyer with information about a Rightway Basketball 3 on 3 basketball tournament (grades 5-12)- please see Mr. Franklin in room 216 for more information.
• Any student who is going on the Washington, DC trip in June, if you haven’t returned your forms to Mr. Rushing, please do so ASAP.
• Any student who sold spirit cards for the Washington, DC or San Francisco trips needs to return the cards or the money for cards sold to Mr. Rushing ASAP!
• For any 6th or 7th grade student who would like to try out for the 2019-2020 Paducah Middle Academic Team, there will be tryouts beginning next Tuesday from 2:30-3:15 in Mr. Rushing’s room. Please try to attend as many sessions as possible.
• There will be a parent meeting on Tuesday April 16th at 6pm in the library for the June 2020 Washington, DC trip. This IS NOT for this year’s trip.
• We had five students selected for the All District Jazz Band,

• No girls’ soccer practice today. There will be practice tomorrow and Tuesday after school.

=         This past weekend 3 teams competed at a Regional Lego Robotics Competition.  While all three teams performed well during the competition, one team brought home a Spirit Award. This was for their pride, fellowship, and common loyalty by the members of a group.  Congrats go to Hope Dwyer, Terrance Robinson, Ty Donaldson, and Sam Stuber.

   Soccer games cancelled yesterday have been rescheduled for April 22nd, girls at 5 and boys at 6:30.

  • Track practice today - Monday, March 4, 2019 at Tilghman.
  • Girls' soccer practice has been canceled for today, March 4th; practice Tuesday - Thursday 2:30 - 4:00 (Wednesday and Thursday will be outside)  
  • Parent Meeting for anyone who has a child interested in trying out for Paducah Middle Cheerleading for next year. At least one adult must attend to represent the interested candidate. The meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5th @6:00PM in the Paducah Middle Cafeteria. This is for students who will be 6, 7, or 8th graders.
  • Spring Pictures will be Friday, March 15. Information will be sent home.
  • Choir Assessment PREVIEW CONCERT:  SUNDAY, MARCH 17th at 3pm at PADUCAH TILGHMAN AUDITORIUM; FORMAL ATTIRE; EXCUSED absences for this concert are due NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MARCH 8th.
  • Help support our school by sending your Box Tops for Education to the front office
  • Students interested in participating in National History Day Competition must have their registration forms and $10 fee in to Ms. Powell by Tuesday, March 12. Any questions may be directed to her at triska.powell@paducah.kyschools.us. She encourages all students who want help on their projects to stay on Mondays 2:30-3:30. Reminder-competition- March 29!
  • Paducah Middle will start selling yearbooks this week. This year we are also giving parents the option to pay online! If you’d like to pay online with a debit or credit card, just look to the bottom of this page for instructions on how to do so.  Orders may also be turned into your Lead class teacher. Students will receive email for payment in their Lead classes (cash, check or money order)...Make Checks payable to the school...Debit or Credit at  https://commpe.pictavo.com/ (service fee applies).
  • No "Big Rocks" this week - students will be preparing for learning checks (Wednesday - math & science) (Thursday - language arts and social studies)
  • Third quarter ends Thursday, March 7, 2019.
  • No school for students Friday, March 9, 2019.

   Parent Meeting for anyone who has a child interested in trying out for Paducah Middle Cheerleading for next year. At least one adult must attend to represent the interested candidate. The meeting is on Tuesday, March 5th @6:00PM in the Paducah Middle Cafeteria. This is for students who will be 6, 7, or 8th graders at Paducah Middle next school year.  More information attached!
   Spring Pictures will be Friday, March 15. Information will be sent home.
   There will be a PTHS Football Booster Club meeting this Wednesday night in the PTHS Blue Room at 6 pm for parents of current 8th graders planning to play next year.  Please enter through the bus circle doors to attend.

   NHD (National History Day) meeting today, Wednesday, February 13, 2:30 Paducah Middle Library, it will last about 20 minutes.  
   Boys' soccer - practice Wed - Fri from 3-5 behind Brooks stadium.
   Tilghman softball tryouts will be this Friday, February 15th at the warehouse from 5-7 and Saturday, February 16th from 9-11.
   From Coach Pearson: Girls' Soccer tryouts will this week February 11th-14th , right after school from 2:30 to 4pm.We will begin practice on February 18th. I will have calendars made with practice schedules and game schedules to hand out once the team has been chosen. Remember you must have a sports physical to try out and participate!!

   After School Art tutoring every Friday and dismiss at 4:00.  In the event of cancelation Mrs. Sauer will let the students know in advance.
   From Coach Pearson:  

Girls' Soccer tryouts will be February 11th-14th , right after school from 2:30 to 4pm.

We will begin practice on February 18th. I will have calendars made with practice schedules and game schedules to hand out once the team has been chosen.

Remember you must have a sports physical to try out and participate!!

   PM Lighthouse Team wants you!  We are looking for parents to take on an active role with our Lighthouse Team.  Those who are interested in working with students and faculty Lighthouse members should attend an initial meeting this Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 4:30pm in Paducah Middle’s Library.
   Our regular SBDM meeting will be February 4th at 4:00pm in the library.

   Parents please follow the drop off procedures by moving as close to the stop sign as possible. The police have come by and stated that cars cannot be lined up on Lone Oak Road. Thank you.

• There will be a Beta Club meeting tomorrow, Wednesday January 30th to discuss empty bowl project. The meeting will last until 2:45pm in the library.
• Boys' soccer interest meeting today, Monday (1/28) immediately after school in the cafeteria for about 10-15 minutes If you haven't yet had your sports' physical, you can get a form at the meeting. Tryouts will be the week of 2/4-2/8.

If you have already played a sport and have a current physical then you will be good for tryouts...Announcements for specific dates for girls and boys tryouts will be sent out later this week.
• If you are interested in staying for "Innovative Arts," with Mr. Franklin, please pick up an application in the office. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 3:30 in room 216. Activities include: woodworking; wood burning; measuring; cutting, and finishing techniques

Three days before the rise of a blue moon, they venture into the forest to find the ingredients that will reverse the spell and restore the witch's beauty: a milk-white cow, hair as yellow as corn, a blood-red cape, and a slipper of gold. During their journey, they meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack, each one on a quest to fulfill a wish.

• Speech practices will start this week. They will be on Mondays and Fridays from 2:20-3:30 in Ms. Youngblood's classroom (room 109). Students only have to attend one day a week. They must bring their 35 dollar fee with them to the first practice they plan on attending.

• For ALL quick recall parents/students…….NEW practice days and times are as follows: 6th grade Monday 2:30-3:30; JV Wednesday 2:30-3:30 and Varsity Thursday from 2:30-3:30. This new change will begin next week.

• Back-to-School Night/Fall Festival, today, Tuesday, October 23 at 5:00 pm. Activities for the evening will begin at 5:00 in the gym.
• You can help Paducah Middle School raise some dough, catch the spirit and enjoy great food! Contact any Paducah Middle School student or stop by the front office to order TEXAS ROADHOUSE ROLLS- $6 per dozen, Cinnamon Butter $4 per tub or to purchase a Spirit Card for $10. • For any 7th grader who might be interested in going on the Washington, DC trip there will be a parent meeting on Thursday night October 25th at 6pm in the back classroom of the library. This is the same night as the costume concert so if you come to the meeting you won’t be late for the concert. • Science with a Twist will have its first meeting today, Tuesday 9/11. Meeting from 2:30-3:30. If you are interested, come to the first meeting in Science Lab 210. Must have after-school transportation. 
• The PM Choir has kicked off their Cookie Dough sales - see a choir member for more details!...ANY student who did not receive a cookie dough sales envelope can pick one up from Mrs. Veal at the end of the day today.

• Math - Algebra - chpt. 1 test Wednesday; Geometry - quiz Thursday or Friday
• Science - "Need for Speed" due Friday.
• Social Studies - Lesson 2 quiz on Friday**

• Ask your child about BIG ROCKS!! Every Monday in LEAD class, students go over the "week at a glance," with their LEAD teacher. They are directed to write all deadlines, tests, due dates, etc. in their agenda for their core classes for the entire week. Every student has an agenda (student planner). Make sure you ask your child about this. This classroom activity is part of our LEADER IN ME that all Paducah Middle School students participate in. Stay tuned for more information!

• There will be an information meeting about joining the Paducah Middle School Chess team today, Tuesday, August 21 at 2:30 in the Café. This is to explain about chess team conditioning/chess instruction, practice schedule, and tournament schedule. The chess team is open to dedicated 6th-8th grade students that know how or are willing to learn how to play competition chess.
• Both baseball and softball games for today (Tues. 8/21) against Lyon County have been cancelled.
