Shoes that were donated by the Kiwanis await delivery to Head Start students at Clark, McNabb and Morgan elementary schools. The Kiwanis club has sponsored the shoe give-away since 1980. The club has donated $60,000 worth of shoes in the past 32 years. The project is funded through proceeds from the McCracken County Fair and the sale of funnel cakes at Bar-B-Que on the River.

McCracken County Library director Julie Hart , Friends of the Library President Jennie Boyarski, and Head Start Children's Services Manager Tanya Jones look at books that were part of a donation to Head Start by the McCracken County Library and Friends of the Library.
All nine Head Start classrooms will receive a box of books. Each box contains the top 100 books students should read before they reach third grade.
"This program is a great outreach to young students," said Boyarski. "You can't start encouraging kids to read and love books too early. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the youngest of our community in hope that when they are older they will support reading like we do."

The Head Start Policy Council is composed of parent and community representatives. The Council works with Head Start administrators to review and give approval to Head Start policies and procedures.
