Paducah Middle Earns Honors at Kentucky State Speech Tournaments
Michael-Ellen Walden, of Paducah Middle School, won the Kentucky State Middle School Speech Championship in Interpretation of Literature. In only their second year of existence, the Paducah Middle School team placed eighth overall out of 38 schools.
Placing seventh in the state were Ella Bailey and Claire Kelly in Improvisational Duo. Claire Kelly and Caroline Meiners took eighth in Duo Acting.
Three state semi-finalists were from Paducah Middle: Nina Brown, Storytelling; Alexandra Wisner, Poetry; Maddie Ybarzabal, Solo Acting; and Michael-Ellen Walden, Broadcasting.
Jamie Black, Chloe Bilak, Grace Denton, Amiya Jones, and Yesmina Townsley from Paducah Middle earned a second place in preliminary rounds.
There were 38 schools which advanced students to the state middle school tournament. The championship events were held March 14-17 on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington.
