Seven Paducah Tilghman Juniors Selected for Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program

Butler is a member of the National Honor Society, the Tilghman student council, and the Future Business Leaders of America club. He competes on the academic team, the mock trial team, the football team, and the track team. Butler in an AP Scholar, serves as a student intern on the Paducah Human Rights Commission, is a volunteer peer tutor for math and Spanish, and is a recent graduate of the Paducah Youth LEAD program. He is the son of Lori and Danny Butler.

Price is a member of the Tilghman marching band, concert band, and pep band. He serves as leader of the low brass section. He is a member of PTHS’ chapter of the Prichard Committee Student Voice Team and competes on the PTHS speech team and academic team. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Kentucky History Day club, and Boy Scout Troop 1. Price is an AP Scholar and DAR Youth Citizen Award honoree. He is the son of Julie and Kent Price. 

Raber is an AP Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, and member of the Kentucky History Day club. She competes on the academic team, the speech team, and the Future Problem Solvers Team. She serves as a member of Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt’s State Student Council, and she participates on the Prichard Committee’s Student Voice Team. Raber is a recent graduate of the Paducah Youth LEAD program. She is the daughter of Lisa Hill.

Addie Rogers serves as a student intern for both Mayor Brandi Harless and the Paducah Human Rights Commission. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the speech and debate team, the student council, and the mock trial team. She competes on the cross country and track teams. Rogers in an AP Scholar and is a recent graduate of the Paducah Youth LEAD program where she was named Youth LEAD Student of the Year. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Mike Rogers.

Kate Rogers serves on the student council and competes on the mock trial team, cross country team, and track team. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America club, and Medical Explorers club. She volunteers with Bootcamp Babysitting and with various community programs including the Dragon Boat Races and Clark Carnival. Rogers is an AP Scholar and recent graduate of the Paducah Youth LEAD program. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Mike Rogers.

Sember is a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Business Leaders of America club, the Kentucky History Day club, and the Kentucky Youth Assembly club. She competes on Tilghman’s academic team and mock trial team. She is a volunteer clerk at the Midtown Alliance of Neighbors and has served in a volunteer capacity with The Heifer International Program, Clark Carnival, and the Midtown Alliance of Neighbors Fall Festival. She is the daughter of Sharon Poat and Robert Sember.

Yarbrough is a member of the National Honor Society, the coding club, and the Kentucky History Day club. He competes on the academic team, robotics team, and is a founding member of the PTHS chess club. He serves as a mentor for elementary school chess team members. He has participated in both piano and violin instruction for many years, and serves as a volunteer instructor for aspiring young musicians. Yarbrough is an AP Scholar. He is the son of Martha Sue Yancy and Steven Yarbrough. 

“I am very proud of the thoughtful way these students have approached their high school careers, following their passions and having a positive impact in activities they love,” said Assistant Principal Jonathan Smith. “GSP is a competitive process. The fact that all of Tilghman’s nominees were selected to attend speaks to the caliber of their bodies of work and their commitment to academic excellence. I know each will bring an important, unique perspective to the Governor’s Scholars Program.”
