Morgan Writers Take Top Spots in KCTE Writing Contest
3rd grader Alexis Cornwell was named state champion in the primary grades division / Narrative Writing for “Leon’s Day.”
3rd grader Nethaniel Mills took first place honors in the primary grades division / Poetry for his poem entitled “I Am.”
Paducah Public Schools students took the top three spots in the state in the intermediate division/ Poetry. 5th graders Taryn Tucker and Sierra Sharp were named state champion and state runner up, respectively, for their poems. Tucker’s “Word Chase” and Sharp’s “Just a Thought” earned them their state-level accolades.
The writing contest is sponsored and judged by English and language arts teachers from around the state, and the contest is open to all Kentucky elementary students.
