Ten PTHS Students Receive MCCCE Educational Assistance Scholarships
Scholarship funds and laptop computers were presented to five students in Class III of the PaxtonScholars Program. Ms. Heather Redd, Ms. JeanKyrean Shaw, Ms. Jade Townsley, Mr. Rafiel Banks and Mr. Ke’Londre Quarles will receive scholarship funds earned during their Junior and Senior years of high school and will receive additional funds next year which they will earn during their first two semesters of college (all of these funds are based on student Grade Point Averages). BB&T provided the funds to purchase college ready laptop computers and backpacks for students in Class III of the PaxtonScholars Program this year.

A total of 20 students were chosen based on their GPA, financial need, achievements and future goals to receive the 2014 MCCCE scholarship funds totaling $19,000.00. Tilghman students receiving MCCCE scholarship funds included Jailon Chism (University of Louisville, Music Education), Yasmine Martinez (Pre-Med, MSU), and Jordan Riley (WKCTC, physical therapy).

Additional funds were presented from the Charles Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund funded by USEC to Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Keystone Club members Ms. Daija Davis and Mr. Jordan Tyler.

The scholarships are made possible through the Endowment as a result of the donor directed endowment to the Community Foundation of West Kentucky in 2005 by the late Fred Paxton and wife, Peggy and additional donations this year from: Atmos Energy, Ray Black and Son, Inc., Lourdes Hospital, Baptist Health Paducah, Triangle Enterprises, A&K Construction, Inc., Computer Services, Inc., Paducah Bank, P&L Railways, Inc., Crowdus Maintenance/Cleaning, Denton & Keuler, LLP, Ms. Anita Williams and an anonymous donor.

Including 2014 awards, MCCCE has made educational assistance contributions in excess of $120,000 to over 196 area individuals since 2007.
