Shumaker and Underhill Sign to Play Baseball for Shawnee
Shumaker, a shortstop, has 22 RBI's for the season and a batting average of .366. He was named to the All District, All Region, and All State baseball teams in 2013, and was a pre-season All American this year. He played for the Under Armour National Baseball Team in 2013. His parents are Anthony and Shelley Shumaker.

"I wanted to play right off the bat rather than going to a Division 1 school and possibly not playing for two years," said Shumaker. "Since Shawnee is a junior college, this will give me the opportunity to have four years of continuous starting time and give me a chance to continue to grow."

"Nick is a complete player both offensively and defensively. He will help Shawnee in both aspects," said PTHS head baseball coach Chris Johnson. "He's a very intelligent player, he's respectful, and will work hard on and off the field for Coach. Shepherd."

Underhill is a pitcher and centerfielder for the Tornado. He has pitched 49 innings this season with an ERA of 2.94 and 46 strikeouts. He was named to the All District and All Region baseball teams in 2013. His parents are Donald and Tracy Underhill.

"Shawnee is a good choice because I wanted to get the most I could out of two years of playing and progress and get to a Division 1 school," said Underhill. "Coach Shepherd has had a lot of his players move to D1 and be drafted."

"Jacob is a bulldog on the mound," said PTHS head baseball coach Chris Johnson. "He's a fierce competitor and has multiple pitches that he can throw in any count. He will get strikeouts and wins for Shawnee. Nick and Jacob are two ballplayers that will be big contributors to the team."
