Humphrey Siblings Take Player of the Week Honors
During four games played from April 18 - April 26, Karlee Humphrey was 12 for 14 at the plate (.857 batting avg.) with a home run, a triple, and four doubles, for a 1.500 slugging percentage. She had four runs batted in (RBI), two stolen bases, and seven runs scored. Additionally, she pitched for the win in three of the games (one start and two relief), and got the save in the other win. The Lady Tornado was 14-2 through that last game, and Karlee had hit safely in each game for a 16 Game Hitting Streak.
Isaac Humphrey opened the season in a closer role at Murray, completing a shutout with one inning of scoreless relief. He followed that by pitching a 7-2 win over Mayfield in his first varsity start. He pitched six innings and had six strikeouts and only gave up four hits. Then the team went to South Carolina for spring break, and he picked up two of the team's four wins there from the mound. In the first game, he pitched five innings against a team from Cincinnati, holding them to three runs. In the second game, he picked up his third win against no losses by pitching the Tornado to a 10-5 win over a strong offensive club from Boyd County, Kentucky. The team returned home and defeated Hickman County, where Isaac picked up his 4th win to go 4-0.
