Holt authored the screenplay, produced and directed the narrative short Down Home. The synopsis of Down Home is described as: “When he can’t afford a retirement community, a nursing home, or a caregiver, Rudy Hendricks and his husband are forced to move back to his hometown in Kentucky to care for his ailing conservative father. Along the way, he grows closer with his single mother, sister and his gay but repressed best friend who never left home.”
Mazzone is the producer of The Stairs. Another narrative short, The Stairs features well known actor Anthony Heald (Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, Boston Public.) The synopsis says “An older man hires a male escort for company on Christmas Eve. Faced with the realities of his own loneliness, he finds a strange kinship with the young man in this late-night exploration of solitude, intimacy and the basic human need for connection."
Down Home will play Friday, November 4 at Maiden Alley Cinema at 1 PM Friday at the Yeiser Art Center at 9 PM. Running time is 28 minutes. The Stairs will play Friday, November 4 at Maiden Alley Cinema at 5 PM Friday. Running time is 34 minutes.
Tickets for individual screening block are $5 each. Passes for the entire festival are $50 each.
