Two Paducah Tilghman High School Seniors Earn National Merit Semifinalist Designation
From the approximately 16,000 semifinalists, 15,000 are expected to advance to finalist status. From these finalists, half will receive scholarships offered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In addition, semifinalists and finalists are eligible for numerous full and partial scholarships from various public and private universities.
Butler is a member of the varsity Academic Team, the varsity Mock Trial team, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, Beta Club, and National Honor Society. He competes on Tilghman’s football, soccer, and baseball teams. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. He is member of the Kentucky American Regional Math Team and a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Youth LEAD program. He is the son of Lori and Danny Butler.
Hancock is a member of the varsity Academic team, the Speech and Debate team, the varsity Mock Trial team, the Kentucky Junior Historical Society, Literary Circle, Beta Club, and National Honor Society. She plays the viola in Tilghman’s orchestra. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. Hancock serves as an intern on the Paducah Human Rights Commission and is a member of the Mayor’s Anti-Bullying Task Force. She is the daughter of Sid and Justin Hancock.
