KABC Gives Player of the Year to Humphrey
"I'm honored (the 1st Region coaches) have shown me respect and recognized my hard work," Humphrey said. "I'm thankful I have had a good four years on varsity, and healthy too. Coach Thomas has been there for me and has really helped me improve."

The highest scorer in the 1st Region this year, Humphrey recently eclipsed the 2,000-point threshold for her career.

Thomas said he appreciates the effort Humphrey has given throughout her career for the Lady Tornado, which has culminated in a season where the Lady Tornado are 25-2 and among the favorites in the 1st Region.

"She does a lot for us. She is a girl who takes advantage of mismatches every week, being a tall wing player," Thomas said. "With the numbers she puts up, 20 points a game, shooting a high percentage, I expected her to win it."

Humphrey also credits her teammates and fellow seniors for her winning this award.

"We have had such a great group this year and a good, solid seven players working together every night," she said. "Having such an excellent year helped me as well. I've had my best year this year."

The ultimate goal for Humphrey and the Lady Tornado is a Region 1 championship, something Tilghman has not accomplished since 2005.

Also a star softball player, Humphrey is unsure of her next path - but said her goal has been to play softball at Kentucky, potentially as a walk-on.
