Corbett honored by National Achievement Scholarship Program
Senior Marcus Corbett was named an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Scholarship Program sponsored by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). After applying for the 2015 National Achievement Scholarship Program on the 2013 PSAT, Corbett was noticed for scoring in the top three percent out of 160,000 other African-American students.
Marcus said about the award, “I was surprised to get it, I wasn’t expecting to. But I’m happy to get the award, because it shows that my hard work has paid off.” Marcus is a member of Varsity Academic Team, Mock Trial, Cross Country and Track team, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Club, and Recycling Club. He plans to attend Purdue University.
In the spring of 2015, he has an opportunity to advance in the competition for additional offered scholarships. The National Achievement Scholarship Program has been a continuing program since 1964. This program was started to honor academically notable African-American high school students.
