Positive Start for Tilghman's Speech and Debate Team
In addition to the finalists, the team achieved numerous top three finishes in preliminary rounds. First place in a preliminary round was earned by senior, Carter Vaughn in Broadcasting & Impromtu Speaking; 2nd place, junior Jack Daniels-Broadcasting; 3rd place: Junior, Kathryn Winfield-Poetry; Freshmen Marco Gracia-Broadcasting and Landon Ross- Extemporaneous Speaking.

The competition points earned moved Michael Ellen Walden to a degree of Distinction in the National Speech & Debate Association, and John Holtgrewe to a degree of Honor. Freshmen Tasceana Clardy, Marco Garcia, Anna Grace McGee, and sophomore Landan Ross earned their first National Speech and Debate points.

The National Speech & Debate Association is the oldest speech and debate honor society in the country. Paducah Tilghman High School has been a member since 1932.
