Grant Signs Letter of Intent With WKU Cross Country/Track & Field
Grant won four regional cross country championships, beginning her freshman year 2011. She finished in 3rd (2012), runner-up (2013), and 4th in the state class 2A cross country meet. In track and field, Grant was state champion in the 2 mile in 2012 and has had numerous runner up finishes in the 800m, 1 mile and 2 mile in the state Class 2A track meet. She has won regional championships in the 800m, the mile, and the 2 mile for the past three years.

Coach Heather Hamilton, who ran track for the Hilltoppers, said she kept quiet while Grant was being recruited, but had wanted her to sign with WKU from the beginning.

“Aleja has a good attitude and a great work ethic. She works hard even when nobody’s looking,” Hamilton said. “I ran for Western and I know that they will take great care of her and she will be a great asset to the program.”

Grant said, she feels that Western is the right place for her because their goal for her is a good education, which is her ultimate goal.

“I’ll miss having my family come and my mom being at every meet,” Grant said, “but WKU has that family feel. I feel like I will fit in.”
