Four Students Selected as Paxton Scholars
Amiya Jones is a member of the PTHS NJROTC and the National Honor Society. Through the NJROTC she is involved in community service projects including Christmas on the River, the HUGS project, and the George Wilson Toy Giveaway. Amiya plans to attend a four year university and major in psychology.  Her mother is Lola Jones.

Brianna Wagner is a member of the PTHS girls track team. She plans to attend a four year university. Her major is undecided. Her parents are Buffy and Jacque Jones.

Tyrese Jones is a member of the PTHS football and track teams. He is a member of the Boys 2 Gentlemen Club at PTHS. He plans to attend a four year university and major in mechanical engineering. His mother is Dorian Talley.

Vanessa Davis is a member of the National Honor Society, Academic team, Archery team, Interact Club, Knitting Club, and Law Club. She plans to attend a four year university and major in biology. Her parents are Marcey and Demond Davis.

The program Paxton Scholars program was organized in 2006 by MCCCE, a local non-profit organization, after the late Fred Paxton and his wife, Peggy Paxton, established a donor-directed endowment of $1 million at the Community Foundation of West Kentucky. The endowment will continue to award scholarships and educational assistance to students who wish to pursue their post-secondary educations.
