Puckett Named Paducah Tilghman Head Softball Coach
"My life goal originally was to be a counselor at school and coach the team," Puckett said. "Part of that was because I felt like those were important sources of influence in my life. Without my coaches, especially my travel ball coach, I probably wouldn't have pursued college or gotten into college the way I did."

Puckett said she enjoys being part of the game. She sees softball as a good opportunity for students to experience the camaraderie and character building that come with participating in softball.

"Women don't get the (professional) opportunities with softball that men get with baseball, so for us it's really important that we build our character and our strength more than anything in sports," Puckett said. "That's really what I hope to do."

Softball tryouts for the 2016 season will begin Thursday, February 18.
