A Statement from Paducah Public Schools R...
January 12, 2021 Some example sentences used in a lesson today by one of our teachers at Morgan Elementary were inappropriate. The example sentences were used to illustrate different types of sentences (declarative, imperative, exclamatory, etc.).  Dr. Fenske investigated and discovered that the teacher used popular phrases that he had heard his students saying to illustrate the different types of sentences.  These phrases are popular memes.   While we support the efforts of our teachers to engage students by connecting the concepts they are learning to popular culture, this was not appropriate for school.  The matter has been addressed, and we will continue to work together with teachers, parents, and the community going forward, to serve the best interests of our students.  If you have further questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Mark Fenske at [email protected] or 270-444-5760.
