Tilghman’s Overstreet voted region’s top ...
by Wes MayberryThe Paducah SunApril 2, 2021Used with permission.Putting a season on pause for more than two weeks can wreak havoc on any rhythm a team has built. The Paducah Tilghman boys basketball team went through such a pause this season, but second-year head coach Greg Overstreet navigated it with aplomb in leading the Blue Tornado to an 18-6 record.Fellow First Region coaches and select media members recognized the job Overstreet did this season, voting him as the 2021 All-Purchase boys basketball Coach of the Year.“It is rewarding anytime the media and your peers recognize that you and your staff are doing a good job with your program,” Overstreet told The Sun upon learning that he had earned this honor. “We have been very blessed to have a dedicated staff that all coach for the right reasons.”       Overstreet was also appreciative of his players, who were a huge part in the Tornado’s successful season in helping him garner this award.

Paducah Tilghman High School junior Paige Lauren Kight has earned a perfect 36 composite score on the March ACT. Historically, fewer than 0.4% of all test takers nationwide earn a perfect overall score. Paige Lauren is an AP Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Varsity Academic Team. She is a member of PTHS’ Band of Blue, a member of the Paducah Symphony Youth Choir, and is active in the 4-H Sewing Club and PTHS’ Sustainability Club. Paige Lauren is also a Youth Advisor for parentandteen.com.She was named a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar in 7th grade, a designation that follows her through high school and her undergraduate career. “Paige has been an academic force throughout her years at Clark, Paducah Middle, and now at Tilghman,” said Tilghman Principal Allison Stieg. “She is a voracious reader, a gifted writer, and a critical thinker. Given her unparalleled work ethic and her thirst for knowledge, it came as no surprise to me that she aced the ACT. She is well-positioned to start her senior year and I have no doubt that her college application process will be an exciting one.”Paige Lauren is the daughter of Kelly and Robert Kight.
