A "Thank You" From Paducah Public Schools and McCracken County Schools

Through good times, bad times, and all the times in between, public schools do so much more than educate children. Public schools are community schools. We offer vital resources and support to families, because that’s what’s best for kids. Often, it’s easy to overlook the good things going on behind the scenes and beyond the classroom. Here’s a snapshot of why public schools matter, by the numbers:

As we mark the one-year anniversary of our schools being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, McCracken County Schools and Paducah Public Schools want to thank our faculty, staff, and community for the determination and flexibility they displayed as we worked together to reach beyond our classrooms and schools into our communities to continue the mission of reaching each student to provide the resources needed to continue to learn and succeed.

Paducah Public Schools to Keep NTI Day for All Students on Wednesday

Paducah Public Schools will keep Wednesday as a virtual (NTI) day for all students after reviewing input from faculty, staff, and parents.

The Paducah Board of Education voted to allow in-person students to return to classes for a four-day week beginning March 8. There will be one day of virtual learning per week. The board asked that faculty and parents be surveyed to determine whether it would be best to keep the virtual day on Wednesday or move it to a different day.

Superintendent Donald Shively said that he appreciated the feedback and that the survey response had been valuable in helping the board evaluate the proposed change.

“As we reviewed the survey results, there wasn’t a significant request to move from our current NTI day,” Shively said. “In a year of constant change, this is a way for us to keep something consistent going forward. I hope that we will continue to see the community rate of infection drop so we can focus on making a strong finish to this school year.”
