Paducah Tilghman seniors Mason Copeland and Aiden Forthman signed athletic scholarships to Midway University at a signing ceremony held at PTHS on April 15.

Mason Copeland signed a scholarship to play football for Midway. Copeland was a multi-sport athlete at PTHS. He played football for four years, basketball for three years, and ran track for four years. During Copelands four years at PTHS, the football team had a 46-10 overall record, winning one state championship, two state semi-final runner-ups, and three regional championships.

“Mason is one of those kids you don’t want to lose because of the leadership that he brings,” said PTHS Football Head Coach Sean Thompson.  “Midway is getting a great kid because of that skill set and the way he’s been raised by his parents to present himself and carry himself every day.”

Aiden Forthman signed a Track & Field scholarship with Midway. Forthman was a multi-sport athlete, running Track and Cross Country and playing Basketball for PTHS. Forthman was a state competitor for three years in Cross Country and was Regional Honorable Mention in Cross Country his 10th grade year. During his time at PTHS, Cross Country won 1 Regional Championship and placed third at State, while Basketball won one District championship, was District runner-up twice, and was Region runner-up once.

“One thing you cannot question about Aiden is his heart- he has the biggest heart,” said Track & Field Head Coach Randy Wyatt. “That’s going to take him a long way. Our job as coaches and teachers is to help get you prepared for the next level and I hope we’ve done a good job.”
