PTHS NJROTC Trip 1

The PTHS NJROTC has a long legacy of taking yearly orientation trips to allow cadets to put eyes and hands on what they have been learning about in the classroom throughout the year.

This is the 19th trip since the Unit’s founding in 2001.  This year the cadets got to experience the world of Naval and Coast Guard Aviation in Pensacola, FL and Mobile, AL from April 19-22, 2022.

On the trip down to Pensacola the cadets explored Rickwood Caverns in Warrior, AL. The first day in Pensacola, the cadets visited the Naval Aviation Museum, watched the Blue Angels perform at Sherman Field on NAS Pensacola, walked the steps of the Pensacola lighthouse, visited the Chief’s club and explored the beach.  The next day, the cadets visited the USCG Aviation Training Command (Mobile, AL) and were introduced to the myriad of aircraft the Coast Guard utilizes to complete its multiple missions.  Then the group visited USS Alabama Memorial Park to board the Mighty A (WWII Battleship) and the USS Drum (WWII Submarine).

The group departed for home on April 22nd and packed in one more stop along the way to experience the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center to learn more about the space program.

The Cadets had a great experience, and we are looking forward to a trip next year to Dayton, Ohio.
