Paducah Tilghman High School juniors Elena Adkins, Fiona Caywood, Reagan
Hartman, Ashlyn Story, and Henry Stratemeyer have been named Centre
Fellows in Centre College's merit based scholarship program.

Centre Fellow candidates must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 and a
standing within the top 5% of their class.  They also must maintain a
challenging course load comprised of some of the highest courses
available at their school, and be an outstanding citizen of their high
school and community.  Adkins, Caywood, Hartman, Story, and Stratemeyer
were nominated by Paducah Tilghman High School.


Centre Fellows are guaranteed to receive a $26,000 minimum scholarship per
year for four years at Centre College should they attend there. Centre
Fellows are eligible for additional merit awards. The Centre Fellows
Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards some of the nation's
brightest, most involved high school juniors.


Adkins was recently awarded the National Rural and Small Town Award from the
College Board’s National Recognition Program. She is a member of the
Tilghman Academic Team, Band of Blue, Student Ambassadors, Beta Club,
Interact Club, National History Day Team, Community Crafters, and was
recently accepted into the Chamber of Commerce Youth LEAD program.  She
and the National History Day Team were the 2021 and 2022 Kentucky State
Champions in the National History Day Senior Group Documentary division.
She is the daughter of Bill and Ashley Adkins.


Caywood is a member of the Tilghman girls’ soccer team and recently received
the all-region honorable mention award. She’s a member of the inaugural
Student Equity Advisory Council, Student Council, the Tilghman choir,
Concordia, Another Shade of Blue, Interact Club, Beta Club, and is a
writer and assistant editor for the The Tilghman Bell. She’s a member of
the Tilghman Speech Team and has won several regional awards for prose
and poetry, including a state semi-finalist designation for poetry.
She’s an active community volunteer and is employed as a childcare
provider. She is the daughter of John and Whitney Caywood.


Hartman is a member of the Tilghman softball team and, since second grade, has
played on a traveling club softball team.  She’s in Beta Club, Interact
Club, Pep Club, HOSA, Student Council, is a Tilghman Student Ambassador
and Paducah Bank Teen Ambassador, and was recently accepted into the
Chamber of Commerce Youth LEAD program. She also volunteers as an
ambassador for Book for Hope (a Childhood Cancer Program) and for the
JDRF Walk. She’s employed as a childcare provider. She is the daughter
of Michael and Crystal Hartman.


Story is a Tilghman Cheerleader, member of Interact Club and Beta Club, an
editor and writer for The Tilghman Bell, and holds the office of
Treasurer for HOSA. She’s a Tilghman Student Ambassador and a Book for
Hope Ambassador. She has volunteered at Starfish Ministries, the Book
for Hope Dancing for Gold, Book for Hope Childhood Cancer Walk, Morgan
Elementary, the George Wilson Sports Clinic, and in various other
capacities. She is the daughter of Eddie and Tina Story.


Stratemeyer is a member of the Tilghman football team, track & field team
(discus), Tilghman Choir, Prime Rib, Academic Team, the Tilghman Quiz
Bowl team, and has been selected for the KMEA First District Choir and
All-State Choir each year since freshman year. He’s employed at Bike
World and is a summer bike camp volunteer. He’s very involved at First
Presbyterian Church and regularly volunteers in our community with his
youth group. He is the son of Dan and Whitni Stratemeyer.


“These exceptional juniors have exhibited a commitment to the highest
standards,” said Julie Price, PTHS Scholarship Counselor. “Their strong
academic and service-minded foundation is what Centre College values in
its students and we’re very proud that they are already being recognized
and rewarded.”
