Kentucky Safe Schools Week is set for September 8-12, 2025. This week aims to “Focus on School Safety”. This year’s theme emphasizes the critical need for constant vigilance and proactive measures in maintaining secure learning environments across the Commonwealth.
This dedicated week aims to empower schools to strengthen their safety initiatives through targeted activities and discussions. The goal is to raise awareness about various aspects of school safety and empower students, teachers, parents, and the wider community to take proactive steps in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for everyone.
Join us and participate in this year’s campaign to “Focus on School Safety” in your school, home and community. Take the online “Focus on School Safety” pledge.
I pledge to "Focus on School Safety":
I will “frame the positive” by showing respect, kindness, and acceptance to others.
I will “zoom in on kindness” and stand against bullying behaviors in all forms.
I will “adjust my focus” by staying alert and reporting anything that doesn’t seem right.
I will “capture responsibility” by owning my actions and following school rules.
I will “develop the full picture” by working with others to build a safe, supportive
school community.
Keep an eye on our PPS web school web pages and social media this week as we share tips for how we can all work together to focus on school safety.
The Kentucky “Focus on School Safety” campaign is sponsored by the Kentucky Center for School Safety. This observance coincides with the national campaign. America’s Safe Schools Week is sponsored by the National School Safety Center.
“I encourage all Kentuckians to get involved and encourage one another when it comes to school safety. School Safety is our first priority and shining a light on all areas of need, compliance and initiative improves our culture and environment. “Focus on School Safety” entails great character and engaging in school safety practices with dedication. Join our Focus on School Safety Campaign and show Kentucky’s brilliance across the commonwealth.” said Jon Akers, Executive Director, KCSS.
