Uriah Virzi PTHS Wrestling signing

Paducah Tilghman senior Uriah Virzi committed to wrestle at the University of the Cumberlands at a signing ceremony held at Paducah Tilghman High School on April 18.

Virzi, a two-sport athlete in football and wrestling, placed five times at the KHSAA state wrestling tournament in his career at Paducah Tilghman. He was a three-time state finalist and two-time state champion. He ends his career as the most-decorated wrestler in the history of PTHS Wrestling.

“I think the big thing about Uriah is that he is a really compassionate person and takes care of everybody around him,” said PTHS Wrestling Head Coach Seth Livingston. “One thing we talk about a lot with our program is family. I think Uriah is family to everyone in there and it really means something. We’re extremely proud of him.”

Virzi said he was impressed with the coaching staff and the program on his visit, which helped him decide to sign with the Patriots.

“I feel good, on top of the world,” said Virzi. “I’m grateful to my parents, my coaches, the wrestling program and the school. Academically and physically they have pushed me to the limits. The program has been a safe haven for me. I’m just grateful to everyone that got me here right now and prepared me for the next step.”
