Whitlow Award Winners

Paducah Public Schools employees Jason Bogard and Leo McKinely were honored with the Whitlow Commitment to Excellence Award at the May meeting of the Paducah Board of Education. Bogard, who received the Whitlow award for classified staff, is courier for the district. McKinely, who received the Whitlow award for certified staff, teaches math at Paducah Tilghman High School.

“Mr. McKinely brings calm, caring, and presence to his classroom,” said Nancy Broyles, who nominated him. “Mr. McKinely creates lasting relationships with his students. Those relationships are the work of a man who truly has a heart for teaching his students.”

“Everyone who nominated Jason mentioned his pride and gratitude at serving the district,” said HR and Communications Director Anne Bidwell. “They spoke of his outstanding service, his dependability, and his unwavering positive attitude.”

The Whitlow Commitment to Excellence Award was created in 2016 and was named for Mark Whitlow, who retired that year as the board attorney for the district. Whitlow also served as the Paducah Public Schools Foundation president and volunteered more than 20 years with the Paducah Tilghman High School mock trail team. The award honors those who demonstrate similar dedication and service to Paducah Schools.
