The Kentucky Center for School Safety’s Safe Schools Week is October 20-26! This week aims to “Level Up” school safety with the goal of raising awareness about various aspects of school safety and empowering students, teachers, parents, and the community to take proactive measures to create a safe learning environment. Over the course of this week, we will be featuring our Student Resource Officers at each school and share a quick fact about school safety in our schools. SROs must complete an additional 120 hours of training in school and law enforcement related topics.

SRO Gretchen Morgan, Clark Elementary Paducah Police Department 2003-Present Contact Officer Morgan at gretchen.morgan@paducah.kyschools.us School Safety Fact: Each year all of our schools must pass a 66-point school risk assessment inspection conducted by a compliance officer with the Kentucky Office of State School Security Marshal. The inspection ensures Paducah Public Schools are in compliance with all school safety laws and procedures.

Senior Night for Band, Cheer, & Football will be this Friday, October 25 at 6:25 p.m. prior to the PTHS vs. Calloway County game. Seniors and their parents should meet on the field at the High Jump area by Jackson Street at 6:10 p.m. Line up will begin at 6:15 p.m. You will walk to your spots at 6:20 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 6:25 p.m.

Season tickets are $100 per chair seat and are valid for all regular season home games for both Boys & Girls JV and Varsity. We review those plans with staff prior to the school year and share them with all the first responder agencies in McCracken County. The Emergency Operations Plans include conducting over 25 school safety drills for fire, bomb threat, lockdown, severe weather, earthquake, reverse evacuation, and shelter in place.

Lady Tornado Basketball Winter League for 2nd thru 5th grade girls will begin Saturday, October 19. The cost is $35 per student. Once your child is signed up, you will receive notification from a member of the high school via email, text, and/or phone regarding the following information: team coaches, schedules, and practice times. Baptist Health will provide a free Flu Vaccine Clinic Monday, October 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Paducah Middle School gymnasium at 342 Lone Oak Road. This event is available to everyone at no cost, regardless of insurance. All are welcome!
