Middle school students (including rising sixth graders) are invited to participate in Harrison Street Serves, a middle school tennis program. The four week program is free. Participants will receive a free tennis racquet, t-shirt, water bottle, and tennis instruction. Please see the flyer for sign-up instructions. Everyone is invited to a kick-off event for National Tennis Month on Saturday, May 18 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Harrison Street Baptist Church. Please see the attached flyers for more information.

Paducah Public Schools will dismiss early today due to inclement weather. Dismissal Schedule: PTHS, Choices and Paducah Middle: 11:30 a.m. Clark and Morgan: 12:15 p.m. McNabb and Head Start: 1:00 p.m. There will be no afternoon Head Start. All after school activities are canceled. This will insure that all our students and staff are safely home by 2:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Kate Lambert, Shonda Hollowell, and Lori Kauffman for the honors they received at the WKCTC Seventh Annual Regional Educators Awards and Scholarship Program. Kate Lambert, who teaches at Clark Elementary, was the Distinguished Faculty (Pre-K through 5th grade) Award winner. Shonda Hollowell, who is Chief Equity Officer for Paducah Public Schools, was a finalist for the Distinguished Administrator Award. Lori Kaufmann, who serves as the Finance Secretary for Clark Elementary, was a finalist for the Cornelia Reece Unsung Hero Support Staff Award. More than 125 area educators, administrators, and staff from West Kentucky were celebrated during a red-carpet event that was held on March 28.

The Clark Elementary quilt project coordinated by Art teacher Shanice Frazier is featured in Kentucky Teacher, a publication of the Kentucky Department of Education. We wanted to share just a sample of the wonderful letters from Mrs. Lambert’s 5th grade class written to our Board of Education members in appreciation of their service. Mrs. Lambert’s students scored 17th the state in Combined Writing, and her students enjoy taking advantage of opportunities to practice their skills in real-life.
