Hey, Tornado Family! Here is a reminder about the plan of action that we follow when we have winter weather.

Paducah Public School families, Putting staff and student safety first, the district will be using non-traditional instruction (NTI) tomorrow, January 18th. Some side road conditions along bus routes are still unsafe. In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory forecasting freezing rain for tomorrow at 10 am that could make midday and afternoon travel hazardous for buses, students and staff. Your student’s school has shared expectations for NTI days. School leaders will send reminders, as well. The last two snow days and tomorrow’s NTI day do not impact the board-approved school calendar this year. The last day for students is still Wednesday, May 22nd, as scheduled.

PPS Parents: Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17th, all Paducah City Schools will be closed due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.This will be a regular Snow Day, not an NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) Day.

PTHS sophomore Eli Cagle has passed the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional in Mechanical Design examination. He is the first Tilghman student to achieve this. Congratulations!

The Paducah Innovation Hub was well represented this morning at the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Power in Partnership Breakfast. Area schools had displays and were featured as part of the Chamber’s annual “Salute to Education.” The speaker was Seema Sheth, Senior VP and Regional Executive of the Louisville Branch of Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

We were honored to have Leadership Paducah Class #37 tour the Paducah Innovation Hub today. Thanks for your commitment to helping build a better Paducah! Leadership Paducah is a leadership development program coordinated by the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. The 11-month program gives class members the opportunity to learn how the community runs for a broader and deeper perspective.

In the spirit of the season, Ms. Harmon's Patient Care Technician classes decorated pumpkins as different diseases and illnesses and made it a competition this week. The pumpkins were on display by the Health Science lab. After the votes were tallied, "Schizophrenia" came in first, "Cyclical Vomiting" came in second, and "Gingivitus" came in third. Good work, Patient Care Tech classes!

Fall Break for Paducah Public Schools will begin Monday, October 2 and continue through Monday, October 9. We hope you enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Fall Break!

The PTHS Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 19 will feature the following: Back-to-School Open House inside Paducah Tilghman High School. Jazz on the Lawn which will provide free food and entertainment on the lawn. Regional College Expo in the gym so families can start planning for the future. All of these events will run from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. All events are free and open to the public. NOTE: We ask that any K-8 students that come be accompanied by an adult at all times.
