All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in public, private and home schools in Kentucky are invited to compete in the Western Kentucky Regional competition of the 2024 National Civics Bee, an initiative of the U.S. Chamber Foundation. The National Civics Bee is aimed at encouraging more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Plus, students could win cash and prizes and earn bragging rights for their school! Students can apply by submitting a 500-word essay using the prompt below: Identify a problem facing your community. How might a citizen solve the problem? To submit an essay, visit https://bit.ly/3MLa5PN or learn more at paducahchamber.org/ncb. There you will find a downloadable parent and student guide, and a video of what it’s like to compete in a National Civics Bee. The deadline for essays is January 8, 2024. After the application portal closes on January 8, the essays will be reviewed by a panel of judges and the top 20 students in Western Kentucky will be selected to test their civics knowledge and compete in the regional, live quiz competition to be held at The Carson Center in Paducah on April 20, 2024. The finalists and top winners will receive various prizes, including $500 cash for the first-place student. The top three winners from the Western Kentucky competition will then have a chance to compete against other middle school students from across the state at the Kentucky Chamber state competition in Louisville. And – for the first time this year – all state level winners will advance to the national championship in Washington D.C.

The PTHS Student Equity Advisory Council invites all parents of PPS students to join us for a student-led Parent Forum Tuesday, December 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The forum will be at the Murray State University Paducah Extension at 4430 Sunset Avenue.

Paducah Middle School invites our staff, coaches, football players/parents and cheerleaders/parents to a reception to honor the 8th grade football 2023 state championship. This will take place from 6:00PM-6:45PM in the lobby of the Paducah Innovation Hub on Friday, November 17 prior to the PTHS vs. Spencer County playoff game. At halftime of the game we will recognize the 8th grade players and coaches on their state championship run.

Paducah Middle Head Coach Ben Seig has received the Region One 7th Grade Football Coach of the Year award from the Kentucky Middle School Football Association. Congratulations, Coach Seig!

Paducah Middle 8th Grade Football defeats Boyle County 26-8 to win the Kentucky Middle School Football Association Division 2 State Championship. Congratulations on an astounding season!

Good news for families: Kentucky's Summer P-EBT plan is approved, and benefits will be issued on or around Nov. 15. Total reimbursement is $120 per eligible student. Enrollment in Summer P-EBT is automatic for public and private school students. Federal law prohibits homeschool students, virtual students and children not enrolled in school from receiving Summer P-EBT. For more information about Summer P-EBT, call 1-833-501-5297.

Join us for a Sendoff for Paducah Middle 8th Grade Football Saturday, November 11 at 9:15 AM in the back parking lot of Paducah Middle School. Please make signs, cheer, and wish the Tornado well as they travel to Lexington for the state championship game!

Paducah Middle 8th grade football gets the semifinal playoff win against Corbin 58-0! They will play the winner of Lexington Catholic and Boyle at Lexington Christian next week on 11/11 with the time TBA.
