The Kentucky Center for School Safety’s Safe Schools Week is October 20-26!
This week aims to “Level Up” school safety with the goal of raising awareness about various aspects of school safety and empowering students, teachers, parents, and the community to take proactive measures to create a safe learning environment. Over the course of this week, we will be featuring our Student Resource Officers at each school and share a quick fact about school safety in our schools.
SRO Eric Abbott
Eric Abbott began his law enforcement career in 2013 and joined the Paducah Police Department in 2016. Officer Abbott is currently assigned as the School Resource Officer at Paducah Tilghman High School. Officer Abbott also serves in the Kentucky Army National Guard as the First Sergeant for the 2113 Transportation Company. In his service to our country, Officer Abbott has deployed to Iraq and Poland.
Contact Officer Abbott at eric.abbott@paducah.kyschools.us
School Safety Fact:
Students, staff, and community members can report a school safety tip 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the S.T.O.P. (Safety Through Online Prevention) Tipline monitored by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security. Tips are immediately forwarded to Chief Davis and central office administrators. You can do this online at kysafeschools.gov, all district and school websites, and also by scanning the QR code on the school safety posters you see around our schools. You may remain anonymous or may leave your information if desired. You can also call/text a tip at (866) 393-6659. Lastly, you may report risky behaviors and safety concerns by contacting any SRO.
If you "see something" or "hear something”, please “say something.”

Paducah Tilghman Assistant Golf Coach Charli Doss has been awarded the 2024 Stewart Gregory Award from the Bluegrass Golf Tour.
The Stewart Gregory Award recognizes golf coaches that dedicate their time teaching, inspiring, encouraging, challenging, and building teams as community and family leaders.
Coach Doss has demonstrated all of these qualities this year with the high school and middle school golf teams.
After ending her college career on the Murray State women’s golf team she has continued to give back to her alma mater as a teacher at Paducah Middle and as assistant coach with both the Paducah Tilghman boys’ and girls’ golf team for the past two years. Doss helped to provide more golf opportunities for junior golfers to pay in Western Kentucky by serving as Director of the Western Kentucky Series with the Bluegrass Golf Tour in 2024.
She will receive her award at the Bluegrass Cup Banquet on Saturday, November 2 in Bowling Green.
Congratulations, Coach Doss!
