The track at McRight Field was dedicated to Coach Lyman Brown and renamed the "Lyman Brown Track" at a ceremony at the Paducah Tilghman Track Invitational on April 20.
Coach Brown and his Paducah Tilghman track and field teams were winners and truly exemplified the PTHS "Tradition of Excellence".
From 1972 through 1990, Brown's Blue Tornado squads captured 14 state track and field titles. During one streak, they won 11 straight championships beginning in 1979. Coach Brown also had 63 team members win individual state trophies. For this accomplishment, he was named Track Coach of the Decade (1980s) by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association. Coach Brown was inducted into the KHSAA Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.

It was awesome to recognize the accomplishments of the Paducah Middle Wrestling Club at the Paducah Board of Education meeting on April 15. Thanks for your work on the mat and in the classroom!

Students who were selected for the Bobby L. Jones Future School Board Members program joined the regular meeting of the Paducah Board of Education on April 15 to learn about how school boards operate by interacting with board members and helping lead the board meeting. Students who participated included:
PTHS: Bryleigh Heal and Dwayne Benjamin – with Dr. Carl LeBuhn
McNabb: Anaya Jones and Jashon Suggs – with Dr. James Hudson
Morgan: Parker Day and Keenan Perez – with Mrs. Janice Howard
Clark: Parice Cowherd and Luke Waufle - with Mrs. Mary Hunter Hancock
PMS: Layla Martin, Taemin (Tate) Housman – with Dr. Felix Akojie
The Bobby L. Jones Future School Board Members Program first started in 2002.
Mr. Jones was a 1973 Paducah Tilghman graduate, an athlete, and former school board member and chairman. While serving on the board of education in 2002, Mr. Jones had the original idea of having students serve as future board members so they could see the process and learn how to become a board member. After he passed away in 2004, our board named the program after Mr. Jones as a fitting memorial. Our Family Service Coordinators work together to assist the board and to see that it has continued in his name.
Students were selected by their administrators this year for showing leadership potential and an interest in civic engagement.
